Paint word pictures
One goal of good descriptive and narrative writing is to use words to create scenes, characters, and feelings. Good novelists know how to create powerful word pictures in the reader's mind that allow him to visualize whatever the author is writing about. That's why many good novels are turned into movies. But the book is always better than the movie. The movie doesn't engage your imagination the same way a book does. Watching a movie is passive, while reading a book is active. You can't put on the screen what the mind can imagine. Get into a book!

You may right Jeff, unlike me watching the movie of a novel is much more convenient for me , because when you watch the movie you will be able to understand what really happens and even you will be able to explain to anybody and they going illustrate everything that happens in the movie. But for the reading aspect it is in a way hard because you will come across some vocabulary words that you don't understand and it is impossible for you to do two things at the same time by holding on to a dictionary and reading. So is better you watch the movie to make you understand what really happens in the Novel. I think to watch the movie is better than to read
ReplyDeleteTry not to use the dictionary so much when you read. Try to get the main idea and don't look up a word unless it's essential to understand the main idea.
Delete"The Christmas Children" written by Irene Brand is easy to understand. I think fiction books are more easy to read than non-fiction. I all ready took more books (by Irene Brand) that I am going to read this summer. I think watching the movie you are just glimpsing a general picture. But if you read the book you will have more detailed pictures in your mind. Furthermore reading is a good mental exercise, because like our body, our mind needs exercise too.

Deleteyou are right jeff, because i watch a movie i don't remember the name right now but my sister read the book of that movie and she said the book is better than the movie.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Jeff, in books it is easier to see what's going on with characters it make real emotion. I used read books and I wrote several story when I was in middle school. my opinion read book more fun then movies you can read characters head and emotion in a story of book you can trust each any situation experienced by the characters without cost or energy lightings fabricated unrealistic. many people like read book more then movies to spend more time movies does.
ReplyDeleteour mind is so amazing because we can imagine a lot of thing in just some minutes and a good stimulation for it is reading when we are reading our mind is thinking about what we are reading and also is created different sceneries and situation that can make us feel good and bad at the same time
